Mkomazi National Park

Come to Mkomazi, where endangered species such as black rhino and African wild dogs are steadily being introduced. The long-necked gerenuk is frequently spotted here, together with lesser kudu, giraffe, grant's gazelle and hartebeest.  Warthogs, buffalo, elephant and zebra also inhabit this semi-arid zone.

Follow the lion, cheetah and leopard, silver-backed jackal, hyena and wild cats as they hunt through the landscape while crocodile, python and agama lizards abound in and around the Umba River.

Train your binoculars on some of the  prolific birdlife; over 450 species have been recorded here, including tawny eagles, go-away birds, parrots, plovers, hoopoes, ostriches and water birds.

Drive or fly into Mkomazi and pitch your tent in one of the several designated campsites inside the park.  Babu's Camp, a semi-permanent tented camp, is located near the park headquarters.
